Alan has focused his career on the development of drugs for respiratory delivery with nearly 15 years’ experience in development of inhalation products in industrial and academic settings. Prior to his role as Director of Technology & Innovation for Inhalation Products at Catalent, Alan was part of Savara Pharmaceuticals where he worked as Associate Director of Pharmaceutical Development on two Phase 3 pulmonary programs and as CMC due diligence lead. Prior, Alan worked at MicroDose Therapeutx on “active” device delivery of powders for inhalation. Alan has also held the position of Research Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where he created and oversaw an aerosol testing lab, taught courses on Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurship and Pharmacokinetics, and was co-inventor on several patents for inhaled therapeutics. Alan has a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University.
Alan is currently Chair of the Inhalation and Nasal Community within the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), an editor for Inhalation Magazine, board member within International Pharmaceutical Aerosol Consortium on Regulation & Science (IPAC-RS), and a proceedings editor for the Respiratory Drug Delivery (RDD) conference.
