Irena King, PhD, is a medical engineer, neuroscientist, and Founder & CEO of Surgicure Technologies, a MedTech company advancing next-generation airway safety solutions for critical care and military medicine.
She trained in the MIT–Harvard Health Sciences and Technology (HST) program, with additional training in healthcare management, and has worked across academic medicine and early-stage biotechnology, including research on HIV biomarker discovery and Alzheimer’s vaccine development. Irena also advises early-stage life science startups on strategy and commercialization.
A National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, SXSW 2026 winner, Boston Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree, and BostInno 25 Under 25 honoree, Irena is known for her rigorous, founder-led approach to translating clinician-driven innovation into scalable MedTech companies.
