Job van Boven leads a multidisciplinary clinical research group at the University Medical Center Groningen and is Principal Investigator at the Groningen Research Institute for Asthma and COPD (GRIAC). His mission is to find novel ways to maximize both patients’ and societal benefits from respiratory medication, focusing on digital innovation. He and his team have performed usability studies, first-in-human studies, validation studies, clinical trials and cost-effectiveness studies covering a wide range of digital inhalers and spacers. He obtained his PharmD and PhD at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), is (co)author of >200 scientific publications and (past) supervisor of 15 PhD students. He is co-Chair of the European Respiratory Society CRC on digital respiratory health “CONNECT”, Founding director of the Medication Adherence Expertise Center of the northern Netherlands (MAECON) and former Chair of the European Commission-funded 40 country European Network to Advance Best Practices & Technology on Medication Adherence (ENABLE) COST Action.
